# Editing Your Document Title

> Guide to changing your document's name directly from the editor

## Want to change your document's name?

You can now easily change the title of any document directly from the editor.

## Why would you want to edit your title?

When you first create a document, we automatically generate a title based on the content. But sometimes you might want something more specific or personalized. Maybe you need a clearer naming convention or want to highlight specific aspects of your document.

## Where to find this feature

You'll find the title edit button in the "Document" tab of your toolbar - it looks like a small pencil icon.

## How to edit your document title

It only takes a few seconds to rename your document:

1. Open your document in the editor
2. Click the "Document" tab at the top of your screen
3. Find the pencil icon in the toolbar
4. Click it to open a simple dialog box
5. Type your new title
6. Press Enter or click "Save" - that's it!

## Good to know

<Note>
  * After you manually edit a title, the system won't automatically change it anymore based on document content
  * Your new title is saved immediately when you hit Save or press Enter
  * Your custom title will appear everywhere your document is displayed or exported
</Note>

## Works with other features

Your custom title will be used throughout the system, including:

* When you export to PDF or DOCX
* In document lists and dashboards
* When sharing with team members
