# SBIR Response Shortcuts

> Quick guide to efficiently responding to Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) topics using Rogue

<Warning>
  Key SBIR Response Tips:

  * Create one war room per SBIR project - everything happens within the war room
  * Focus on the technical volume as most other parts are formulaic
  * You do not need to upload the BAA itself
</Warning>

## Create Your War Room First

Before anything else, create a dedicated war room for your SBIR project. This is crucial as all subsequent steps will happen within this war room context.

* Create one war room per SBIR project
* This will be your central workspace for the entire SBIR response

## The Three Key Shortcuts

### 1. Don't Upload the BAA

You do not need to upload the Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) itself. The essential information can be referenced within Rogue.

### 2. Focus on the Technical Volume

Most other parts of a SBIR response are formulaic (cover sheets, standard forms, etc.). Your main effort should be on the technical volume.

### 3. Use the Outline Chat Effectively

Within your war room:

1. Find the FORMAT sections from your SBIR and paste them into the outline chat, or
2. Simply ask the outline chat to generate a SBIR outline for your specific phase (Phase I, II, etc.)
   * This works especially well with DoD BAAs, getting you 95% of the way there

## Bonus: Enhance Your First Draft

For an even better first draft:

1. Take the objective and description from the SBIR
2. Paste them into the chat
3. Tell the chat to modify the outline to incorporate these details

## Fill In Your Content

In the outline, add:

* Your technical approach
* Names of key personnel (Rogue will find their resumes if uploaded)
* Direction for the commercialization plan
  * Don't worry if you're unsure - Rogue can help with suggestions

## Create Your Document

1. Click the "Create Document" button above your H1 at the top of the outline
2. In the wizard:
   * Click "Next" twice (you've already filled these sections)
   * At the description step, add:
     * TPOC notes
     * Objective and description
     * Any notes about what the government actually wants
3. Click "Next" and generate your first draft

Boom! You should now have a 90% complete SBIR response.
